The Symposium aims to promote exchange between artists and theoreticians already working in the area of city sounds as well as to introduce the subject for artists new to the field.
The event, organised by the cultural center Alte Schmiede together with the Institute of Composition and Electroacoustic Media of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, takes place at the campus of the university as well as at the Alte Schmiede in the historic center of Vienna.

“The EMS Network has been organised to fill an important gap in terms of electroacoustic music, namely focusing on the better understanding of the various manifestations of electroacoustic music. Areas related to the study of electroacoustic music range from the musicological to more interdisciplinary approaches, from studies concerning the impact of technology on musical creativity to the investigation of the ubiquitous nature of electroacoustic sounds today.
